Lee Chen-Ming, a prominent figure in the Taipei and Taichung art communities, dedicated over ten years to teaching at universities in Taichung. In 2001, he returned to his alma mater, National Taiwan Normal University, where he spent 20 years exploring and teaching modern and contemporary ink painting. He has spearheaded a new wave of thought in Taiwanese ink painting, breaking free from the constraints of traditional literati painting. Through his “Post-Literati Painting” course explore the possibility of a new kind of otherness in ink painting. Lee Chen-Ming has guided a group of emerging artists through creative explorations across the Taiwan Strait, including research in northern Shaanxi's cave dwellings, sketching journeys across the Five Great Mountains in China, and engaging in a Korean paper art workshop. He has also curated the Micro Art Fair and the Taipei International Ink Painting Exhibition and Symposium, which he organized twice. During his time as Executive Director (now Vice Dean) of the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts, Lee championed a series of influential art initiatives. Additionally, Lee has never wavered in his personal artistic pursuits. His works reflect a delicate balance of energetic motion and tranquil harmony, offering a fresh dialectical perspective on contemporary ink painting.
